To provide the nationally acclaimed BBBS model of one-to-one mentoring programs and a camp experience for 2,500 at-risk children in central Ohio.

To fund SpankOut Day USA 2002, a national initiative to eliminate all types of corporal punishment of children.

For new headquarters to house a variety of programs that serve residents living in one of Columbus' near east side neighborhoods.

To help low-and moderate-income families pay tuition for their children to attend early childhood centers that meet specific standards of quality.

To help build an exhibit so children and their families can enjoy the wildlife and national habitats of Australia. To support the Rwanda Mountain Gorilla Veterinary Project.

To support an attitudinal survey in central Ohio, part of a nationwide project sponsored by SPAN and the National Practitioners Network for Fathers and Families, entitled, "Confronting Gender Bias in Employment and Social Services at the Local Level."

To provide training to increase the number of certified home daycare providers in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods of southeast Columbus.

 
Strategies Against Violence Everywhere (S.A.V.E.) $35,000
To fund a prevention specialist in Heyl Elementary School to deliver violence prevention programs in the school.

 
Sunday Creek Associates $30,000
To support a summer camp and a variety of out-of-school programs for children in southern Perry County.

 
The Thurber House - $17,500
To fund the Thurber House Residency in Children’s Literature, which will bring children’s author and illustrator Kathryn Hewitt to Columbus for a number of outreach activities with and for children.

 
Tri-County Mental Health and Counseling Services $5,000
To support the Strengthening Families Program, a seven-week curriculum designed to build stronger families in Athens, Hocking and Vinton Counties by bringing parents together with their children with the goal of reducing substance abuse and other problem behaviors in youth.

 
Youth Cultural Center - $10,000
To secure permanent funding for a drop-in center for middle-school youth in Marietta.
 
YWCA - $25,000
To support the YWCA Double Dutch program, so that as many jumpers as possible are involved in the city and state tournaments and in the World Tournament at Bowie State University.
